His full name is Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, He was born in Mvezo on 18 July 1918, known nationally as Mandiba, was a politician, lawyer and make big changes to become the first black president of his country.

His political activity began participating in the branch of the African National Congress or ANC, that sought to fight for the rights of the black minority in South Africa, becoming the leader of the movement after launching the "Defiance Campaing", Mandela passes defended the unity of the various black cultural groups.

Committed to using nonviolent methods, following the inspiration of Gandhi, Was arrested in one of his peaceful protests against Apartheid along with other members to ANC on several occasions.

Apartheid was a system prevailing in the Republic of South Africa that separated the population by race and gave political rights only to white, making it one of the most cruel forms of discrimination.
